Washington Youth Tour
-Delegates Announced
The Washington Youth Tour is the oldest leadership program
for teens in Georgia, currently celebrating its 41st consecutive
year sending students from Georgia’s electric cooperatives to the
nation’s capitol.
The all-expense paid trip will take place June 7-14 in Washington D.C. where over 100 students, sponsored by 37 of Georgia’s electric cooperatives, will experience the fast-paced world of government and careers in public service.
Ranna Anderberg, daughter of Tyna Lord is currently a sophomore at West Laurens High School. Her activities and accomplishments include being a 2006 HOBY Youth Ambassador, Boys and Girls Club volunteer, sophomore class Student Council secretary/treasurer, cheerleader as well as participating in the youth group at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church.
Demetrius Lee, son of JB and Shirley Ford is currently a sophomore at Wilkinson County High School. His many activities included volunteering and speaking at Teens Need Teens (a drug awareness program), volunteering at the Toomsboro Nursing Home, and being a member of his high school’s Beta Club and FCA.
Alex Barfoot, son of Alan and Lydia Barfoot is currently a junior at Trinity Christian School. Alex enjoys participating in church mission trips, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as well as being a member of his school’s cross country team and All Middle Georgia Boys Soccer team.
Crystal Hardy, daughter of Wylene Hardy is currently a junior at Dublin High School. Crystal’s accomplishments and activities include being a member of the 2007 Laurens Youth Leadership, Dublin Laurens County Teen Court, volunteering in Communities in Schools as well as participating in her school’s Future Business Leaders of America club.
